About this site

This site adds up what an LLC costs, state by state, over its first three years: the state filing fee, the annual or biennial report and any fixed state tax, plus the published prices of formation and registered agent services. Every fee comes from the state agency or statute, with the date we read it; a fee a state does not publish is missing, not estimated. It reports facts and official fees: it is not legal or tax advice and does not say which state or service to choose.

How we check the figures

We have not formed LLCs ourselves. We read each state’s official fee pages, statutes and forms and the services’ public price pages, record every figure with its source and the date read, and calculate only with what is written there. When an official figure changes, the change log records the old and the new value. Results are ordered by cost only, never by commission.
